AI Follow-Up

An automatically generated question that probes deeper based on a participant’s previous response. Enables interview-like depth at survey scale.

Analysis

The process of examining collected responses to extract insights. In Deepfield, AI-powered analysis automatically identifies themes, patterns, and key findings.

C

Citation

A link connecting an insight or quote in a report to the original participant response that supports it. Used to verify and explore findings.

Completed Response

A response where the participant answered all required questions and reached the end of the study.

Conditional Logic

Rules that show or hide questions based on answers to previous questions. Creates dynamic, personalized survey experiences.

Credits

Units that track usage in Deepfield. Typically consumed when collecting participant responses.

D

Dashboard

The main page showing all your studies. Also called the Studies List or Home page.

Demographics

Characteristics of participants such as age, gender, and location. Used for targeting and segmentation.

Draft

A study status indicating the study is being created or edited and is not yet ready for participants.

E

Executive Summary

A high-level overview of research findings, including key insights and takeaways. Designed for quick consumption.

F

Feasibility

A study status for initial testing with a small sample before full launch.

Highlight

A key quote or notable moment extracted from participant responses. Used to illustrate findings with authentic participant voice.

I

Incidence Rate

The percentage of potential participants who meet the qualification criteria for a study. Lower incidence = harder to recruit.

Interview Guide

The complete set of questions and sections that make up a study. Also called a discussion guide or survey.

Matrix Question

A question type where participants rate multiple items on the same scale, displayed in a grid format.

Multiple Choice

A question type where participants select from predefined options. Can be single-select or multi-select.

O

Open-Ended Question

A question that allows participants to respond in their own words without predefined options. Also called open text or free response.

P

Panel

A defined group of participants you want to recruit for a study, including targeting criteria and sample size.

Persona

An AI-generated profile representing a type of participant based on common characteristics, attitudes, and behaviors found in the data.

Published

A study status indicating the study is live and actively collecting real participant responses.

Q

Qualitative Data

Non-numeric data such as open-ended responses, video recordings, and audio responses. Provides depth and context.

Quantitative Data

Numeric data such as multiple choice responses, ratings, and rankings. Enables statistical analysis.

Quality Score

An assessment of response quality based on factors like completion time, response length, and consistency.

Ranking Question

A question type where participants order items by preference or importance.

Report

An AI-generated analysis of collected responses, including summaries, themes, quotes, and personas.

Report Chat

An interactive feature allowing users to ask questions about their data and receive AI-generated answers.

Response

A single participant’s answers to all questions in a study.

Respondent

A person who participates in a study and provides responses. Also called a participant.

Sample Size

The number of completed responses you’re targeting for a study.

Screened Out

A response status indicating the participant did not meet qualification criteria and was terminated early.

Screening Question

A question used to determine if a participant qualifies for a study.

Screening Rule

A rule that terminates participants who don’t meet specified criteria.

Section

A group of related questions within a study, used for organization.

Study

A research project containing questions, settings, and collected responses. Also called a survey or project.

Study Editor

The interface for creating and editing study questions, sections, and settings.

T

Template

A pre-built study structure for common research types (e.g., Ad Testing, Brand Perception).

Test Mode

A study state for previewing and testing before going live. Test responses are marked and excluded from analysis. A URL used to preview a study as a participant would experience it.

Theme

A pattern or topic identified across multiple participant responses during analysis.

Transcript

The text version of an audio or video response, generated automatically through speech-to-text.

V

Video Response

A question type where participants record video answers using their device camera.
